Joel from UB Deli took a new position as the Executive Chef and General Manager of a new restaurant called the Gate. The decor of this restaurant is quite lovely - capturing a feel of 1930's Europe. It is something special for Ulaanbaatar. The restaurant caters for a more classy style of diner however it does have a lunch menu. Most importantly, it has a cheeseburger as well (well of course it does, otherwise it would not make it to this page) :-)

On to the Burger. You can see it there to the left. Burger, chips and some salad. The bun contains a sprinkling of sesame seed and it is strong enough to soak the juices from the burger without falling apart. The really special part of this meal (apart from the chips of course) is the burger itself. Rather than using a regular ground beef, Joel is using a finally chopped sirloin to make the patty. Mixed in the patty is the meet, some onion and some seasoning.

This is an excellent burger (along with the others in the top three). The meat is lovely and is cooked through, Mongolian style. As mentioned earlier, the bun is a good moist white bread type able to soak up the juices from the burger. The chips are a treat, as good as those Joel used to prepare by Joel at the UB Deli. I accompanied the burger with a cold Fanta.

Overall, the burger was superb. The only small problem with the whole meal was that (I guess) Joel was a little nervous and forgot to but the cheese on :-) I can highly recommend this burger. The burger costs around MNT 5,500
