Dave's Place is one of the places to go to in Ulaanbaatar if you are an expatriate or at all interested in Rugby Union. Dave's Place is run by Dave and in the style of an English Pub, with sing-alongs some nights, Quiz Night on Thursdays and so on. Apart from the Rugby connection (the connection is the the UB Yaks), Dave's is also the only place in Mongolia (indeed, in the world) that serves X, an English style Ale.

On to the Burger. Dave's Cheeseburger comes by itself - the chips are an option (or rather an extra order). Having said that, the price of the cheeseburger as well as a serving of chips leaves Dave's Cheeseburger in the same price range as other burgers already reviewed. The chips, are nice big chunky ones in the English style. The burger itself consists of a bun, cheese, thick meat patty, lettuce with tomato, onion and pickled thingies server on the side. Thomo broke with tradition here and rather than trying for a strawberry milkshake to wash this down, Thomo opted form a pint of X (which you can see evaporating in the picture to the left).

This is an excellent burger. The meat is ground beef and is cooked through. The Cheese is melted over the top of the meat. The bun is a good moist white bread type. The chips are a treat, tasting and with a texture similar to those found in England. In fact, the chips are almost as good as those prepared by Joel when he was at the UB Deli.

Baagi has rated this burger as one of his favourites, rating it almost to the level of the one offered California. The burger with chips here costs around 5,000 tugrigs, which for this cheeseburger is good value as it is very filling. Thomo enjoyed it and would return for further burgers in the future. Indeed, the pint of X is worth the trip alone, especially if you are new to Ulaanbaatar. Overall, this burger rates second on the list at the moment (especially as Joel has now left the UB Deli and the standard there seems to be falling a little).
