The featured burger today is from: OK, so Incheon Airport is not exactly in the middle of Ulaanbaatar but I plead that I had got to this Burger King direct from Ulaanbaatar. I am currently travelling back to Australia for a vacation, having been in Ulaanbaatar for six months so I thought I would review the cheeseburger from Burger King that I had at the airport on the way to Australia. The other reason for doing this is that I know the ever faithful translator and aide-confidente, Baagi, actually likes Burger King. Standard Burger King this was. The bun was nice and soft, with a sprinkling of sesame seed. Good quality minced/ground beef flame barbequed with raw onion, mayonnaise, ketchup (bleah - what's wrong with tomato sauce) lettuce, tomato, cheese and pickles. I had this with a order of Burger King Fries and a coke. First thing I did was remove the pickles - I do the same thing at McDonalds. Having said that, absence makes the heart grow fonder as it has been six months since I have been near American burger restaurant chain burgers (wonder if this has anything to do with my weight loss). The burger was nice. The fries were ordinary and the coke was, well, coke :-) Would Thomo recommend Burger King cheeseburgers? Damn straight he would, especially if they opened a restaurant in Ulaanbaatar. The cost of the meal illustrated was about 6,700 won which on current exchange rates is about 6,700 tugrig, making Burger King burgers at the expensive end of the range of Ulaanbaatar burgers. If Burger King or McDonald's opened a branch in Ulaanbaatar they would need to price down to about 3,000 tugrigs, maybe 4,000 tugrigs for a meal. And how would Burger King rate on the scales below? Well, let's just say it is not going to be challenging anything in its price class :-) |
